The Military Housing Assistance Fund (MHAF) approached us with a need to create an online listing service of homes for rent and for sale near military bases throughout the United States. This site was to be offered as a service to the military community, as part of MHAF's mission to help military families become homeowners.

For this project we elected to go with Joomla!, relying on the excellent commercial plugin Joomla Estate Agent (JEA) for much of the core functionality. Several features were added to the system with custom programming, including a "Browse" feature that allows the user to drill down through the listings by state and military base, which many users prefer to the "Search" features provided in the JEA component. We also modified the component to work seamlessly with a customized payment system, giving MHAF a secure and easy-to-use framework to charge a listing fee for listed properties.
